NirvanaFormed in 1987 by guitarist and singer Kurt Cobain and bassist Kris Novoselic, along with the later inclusion of drummer Dave Grohl, Nirvana went on to become the definitive sound of a generation with their gritty, rebellious, emotional sound. Seeping with teenage angst and locked away energy, Nirvana single-handedly invigorated the Alternate Rock genre and redefined mainstream music until the death of Kurt Cobain in 1994. [8]
